Call for Proposals

The Call for Proposals for the Research and Evaluation Conference on Self-Sufficiency (RECS) 2026 is open through Friday, September 12, 2025 at 11:59 pm ET. RECS 2026 is currently being planned as an in-person event, to be held at the Capital Hilton in Washington, DC, on May 20-22, 2026. All accepted speakers should be prepared to present in person at the conference. If changes to the conference schedule or format become necessary, accepted speakers will be notified by email.

RECS is a forum for sharing research findings on programs, policies, and services that support families on the path to economic self-sufficiency. Conference presentations will feature research findings and their policy and practice implications for an audience that includes researchers, practitioners, state and local administrators, and federal officials and policymakers. OPRE invites proposals for full conference sessions, individual presentations, roundtables, and Emerging Scholars posters.

For complete submission instructions, including additional information on the proposal criteria, proposal submission types, and conference tracks, please visit the Call for Proposals page of the RECS website. All proposers are strongly encouraged to reference this page while preparing their submissions. If you have an idea for an individual presentation and would like to connect with potential collaborators to submit a full conference session instead, please review the presentations in the RECS 2026 Proposal Gallery.
